When I was three, I had a bowl and cup set with a picture of a silly bear on them. The bowl and cup were pink. The bear was holding a yellow spoon and smiling back at me. The bear also had a pink bowl and cup, each with a picture of a bear holding a yellow spoon, smiling back at me.
I use to stare at each successive bear wondering how many there really were. How small did the bears get before I couldn’t see them? I imagined that if the bears were looking at me then, there must be as many of me as there are of them. If so, then I would get smaller and smaller until I disappeared with the smiling bear.
